Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history
Guy, Fun thing about the fact the Newall being so nicely fitted to the Mitchell. The Newall camera is the result of Mitchell refusing the Pound as payment. When it was found that Mitchell has not filled for copyright fot the NC camera in England, the Rank organization decided to make their own versi...

Guy, Yes, interesting camera. Where are you located? Probably a number of people would be interested in this. If it has been sitting for a long time, may need some work. The government bought most Mitchell Standards after 1930 when Mitchell introduced the NC's. Would be happy to talk more ss this wo...

Re: Mitchell Hi-Hat No.850 | Model THA-I-B
Nice collector's piece. The badge is always a plus. Unfortunately the market is very slim these days. To display a prized camera you still beed a period head to mount on it which cuts down the applications. As a working piece, most new film/video people rarely use or know what a highhat is. Handheld...

Re: Mitchell Standard #414 for SALE (SOLD)
Danita, If you are looking to buy a Mitchell, be advised they are getting to be pricey especially with lenses and accessorues. If or when you find one, always ask for the serial number and look it up on our serial number chart. These cameras may look old but the basic design was still the same into ...

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history
Great to hear from you Richard. According to the records and the serial number chart I have published on this webpage, ( top tab "serial numbers" on the main page - http://mitchellcamera.com) # 26 is a Standard from 1923. As explained in the charts, GC's and Standards-based on serial numbers-were co...

Re: Lenses for Mitchell
No. Completely different system. They ditched the turret and went with a quick change mount to counter front of the camera noise. That mount is what the PL mount came from. The Panavision mount is essentially the same with a rotation of the locator pin. Afterall, the GC/Standard mount was a 1920 des...
