Re: Stiff Movement on Mitchell Standard (advice)

Thanks Mark. My Standard Mitchell is no. 146. This is marked on several internal units apart from the base plate which is marked 190. I bought the (adapted) camera from a UK producer of animated commercials who in turn acquired the camera from Aardman Animations in the 1990s. We are all UK based. My...

Re: Sam Dodge and his BNCR #157 Video Tour

Yep, Sam's videos are excellent. Might ask him if he knows if my Standard no. 146 has as 'history'? What collecting is all about.

NEWSREELS

As can be seen from my photograph, 1950s newsreels used a mixture of Wall, 2709s and Spyder Eyemo cameras plus W.E. 618 mics. The crews look very neat and tidy with additional trilby hats. The whole ensemble courtesy of myself and the NETFLIX costume dept. This was all for a Netflix production calle...

Re: Stiff Movement on Mitchell Standard (advice)

Thanks everybody for the continuing advice. Another request, how to I remove the body of my Standard from the L plate? Or failing that how do I unjam the rackover? I've removed the (quite thin) base plate but can't see any release screws. I'm no expert. Perhaps I should leave it alone? Also thanks t...

Re: Miniature Mitchell Cameras scaled up from photographs

A few more pictures. Bernard King who made these models was a map maker. He made also model cars and buses. It was only a hobby. Nobody was interested in keeping his models, and before he died he offered them to me. He visited British Movietone News HQ whilst it was still operational and took many p...

Re: Mitchells at work across the pond.

Very interesting. The Mole MR 103B belongs to myself and was used originally from 1959 by a UK television company called Anglia TV. The scene depicted is from a recent BBC tv drama recreating 1950s tv.

Re: Miniature Mitchell Cameras scaled up from photographs

Here is the Technicolor camera model. A wee bit smaller and lighter than the original! The model is 14 ozs and 9 inches tall.

Miniature Mitchell Cameras scaled up from photographs

I thought you all might like to see a model of an NC made by the same guy who made my fake Standard front. This model, which is 7 inches tall was scaled up from photographs. He even made a Technicolor camera. I have all of his movie camera models now since he died. They were all going in the dumpster!

Re: Stiff Movement on Mitchell Standard (advice)

Thanks Ed. Unfortunately my Mitchell is not complete, missing the entire front panel and turret. I do now have a Mitchell side finder s/n 427 and a 'Peanut' motor to complete the 'look'. The dissolve mechanism is still there but disconnected. The iris and matte system is fully operational. The numbe...

Re: Does this forum welcome Newalls as a real Mitchell?

Slightly getting off the main subject, but re the Newall brochure, I own an Edmonton dolly which was based on the Panoram. See my picture with my Wall camera.
