Re: Mitchell Beauty shots from Seawood Photo

Chris, I’m a member here and I would certainly enjoy seeing additional photos of your camera! It’s always fun and I always seem to learn new things. Ed is a great source of information. I’ve never been in the film industry but had an interest since I was a kid playing with my windup Kodak Brownie Ca...

Very Nice Boyd! What's the serial number of your NC? Do you have any history on it? Mark

Re: My pride and joy is Mitchell BNCR #198

Hello Scope235! I own a BNCR that was originally purchased by Paramount. I was told mine worked on the Mission Impossible TV series of the 1960s. I research the history of my cameras. Can I ask how you learned of the Mission Impossible history for your camera? Thanks and welcome to the website, Mark

Re: Mitchell Camera drying rack PH-42

If it interests you, yeah. It's one of those things when there is little/no market interest so the saying "its worth what someone will pay" applies here. You never know, you may even find someone who will pay you twice that!

Re: Mitchell Camera drying rack PH-42

I found reference to the part number on Google Books, indicating it is circa 1938. My guess is that it's just for drying still camera film or plates after being developed. I wouldn't think it would be worth much, as I can't see much of a market for this, but that's just my opinion.

Re: Mitchell BNC

Newsreel is the more common acceptable term but I have yet to see any documentation as to what Mitchell intended. I'm not really sure that news organizations purchased NCs for newsgathering, which would be the reason to call it "newsreel".

Anyone have any documentation, early ads???

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Hey Guy Bagdall, Cool camera and yours has seen a lot of history through its life. You are right that the US military is the single largest purchaser of Mitchell Cameras. However, in glancing over the list of sales they didn’t really start buying Mitchell’s until 1934. Although coincidentally they b...

Re: My pride and joy is Mitchell BNCR #198

Hello nikolabronc, If I understand your question correctly, you are asking how Paramount went about selling their cameras; It was in the 1980's. Panavision was making their own cameras and renting them to studios. Previously most, if not all, major studios had their own Camera Department to service ...
