Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Here is a picture of MVV-7 on short term display at the old San Francisco Mint building. They were showcasing San Francisco in the Movies! They had a room devoted to Vertigo and of course this camera was in that room.

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Camera Reports; I have not worked in the industry so my information my be lacking, but this is what I have learned: A camera report is for an individual camera fo...

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Since some are asking for additional photos, here goes, although I had some trouble reducing their file size from a very large file. I am not sure how good these will be. Here is the story behind the photo; This forum has talked about many types of Mitchell cameras but I have not seen anything about...

Re: How High is your Mitchell? Cranes and Booms

Hello, yes, that is a Mitchell Standard inside the blimp. The number is the serial number of the camera, which was sold to Paramount in 1931. Paramount studios would do that. Other studios generally assigned another number. I assume they would number their cameras with their own inventory number and...

Re: How High is your Mitchell? Cranes and Booms

Here is one of those vintage huge monster cranes; Josef Von Sternberg on the set of The Scarlet Empress. This relates to another thread on Mitchell camera serial numbers by chance.

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Okay, here is one of the first I found for my Standard. Searching images on the internet using various words and phrases, like "Paramount Director" I came up with probably one of the best photos I could ask for. Again, you can not see my camera but the blimp is marked with it's serial number. This i...

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Thanks for all the nice comments. This photo is an example of what I look for. It is a behind the scenes photo from G. I. Blues. Look at the area under the man bending over. You can see the end a Mitchell camera lens box which holds 6 lenses, a typical set of prime lenses. It appears Elvis Presley i...

Re: Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Here is a photo that I found on eBay that identifies the specific camera. In this case it is a Mitchell NC serial no. 92 working on a Paramount Production. Funny thing is I have found very few NC's on the collector market. Someone told me that many of them were modified or cannibalized.

Mitchell Cameras; ownership history

Hello all, I have had a collection of movie cameras for years, starting out with 8mm & Super 8 and even picked up a few 16mm. If anyone knows collectors, it's easy to expand ones collection, and I did. I bought a 35mm Mitchell GC off eBay. I later found out it was originally purchased by the US Gove...
