Re: More questions about my camera with pictures

Greg, These cameras were often used for animation or special effects related shots, including high speed shots. If you do the registration on this site, they have available the Mitchell sales records and can tell you who first bought this camera from Mitchell. The zoom lenses are nice but nothing sp...

Re: I need some advice on what to do with a Mitchell Camera

Hi Greg, Just some initial thoughts to your questions. Some places to consider selling; 1) Craig’s list (depending on the area you live. If you’re in Los Angeles or other area where there is film production then Craig’s list is a good option), 2) eBay, 3) a dealer (Richard Bennett is an example but ...

Re: Mitchell BNCR 103

Great pictures! To think that most of the newer camera operators probably don’t even know what a BNCR is! That was a Movie Camera!

Also the additional photos didn't help me narrow down the model number.

Re: I need your help

Steffen, No, the number 290 is the serial number. The model number is BNC (which I'm told stands for Blimped Newsreel Camera). I have records from Mitchell sales. BNC 290 was sold to Vinten Mitchell in 1961. I'm fairly certain Vinten Vinten Mitchell was a rental company in Europe. Will you be able t...

Re: I need your help

The First camera is also a Mitchell Camera, 35mm, and possibly a “Standard” “NC” or “GC” model. It’s hard ...

Re: JUST PURCHASED A MITCHELL NC???

Chris, I’m sure Ed will expand in this question but I’ll chip in a bit. The US military had white cameras but also black cameras. The first camera I bought, the military camera, was a smooth black. I’m told the white pained cameras filmed nuclear tests and should be avoided as they probably have som...
