Re: Best Mitchell Geared Head - Worrall of course!

Hello, So you have a camera mounted on it and you tilt the platform and then it won't stay in that position, if I understand you correctly? There is a lock on these but the camera should be balanced on the head. There is some movement in the thread that holds the camera down. Check and see if there ...

Re: Is there a Mitchell serial number database?

Hello, there is no online database, at least that I am aware of. I do have some sales records but they are incomplete. I do not have any sales records for the BNC either. The biggest single buyer of Mitchell cameras was the U.S. Armed services. But it is more exciting, at least for me, if I know a s...

Re: Mitchell Vistavision Camera #29

The VistaVision that is at the museum of moving image has a lot of history. It first went to Egypt with DeMille to film the Ten Commandments, and toward the end of its life was used by ILM. The other VV pictured on the short metal base, or hi-hat, is also significant, but I can't remember the number...

Re: Mitchell Cameras Sold at Hollywood Auction!

Hello Stein8perf, I tried to send a PM but I don't think they are going thru. Here is what I was asking; "Hello, I see you own a Stein? I am aware of the Stein camera. Is it original or Was it converted to Vistavison? Do you have any history on your camera? Are you willing to share any photos? Are t...

Re: Fox News

I believe Sam Dodge had one. You can go onto his website and check his sold section. The only news camera I know is for sale is from Paramount News. A great metal name plaque on the side of the camera (mostly the entire side!). It is on a Debrie hand crank camera and of course is not cheap, but yet ...

Re: Sam Dodge YouTube demo of 1922 Mitchell Standard #5

Here is a photo of a Mitchell Standard made in 1931. The motor is attached to the connector in the upper left corner, as the other photos show. ***Note that the Micthell acorn ID tag on Sam Dodge's camera is wrong. It may have just been replaced? His ID tag shows the wrong city for the company in th...

I here they are like a Swiss watch mechanism inside making them difficult to work on. I have not seen any interior views or diagrams.

Good luck,

Re: Mitchell Factory Video Tour - Industry on Parade

35mmKing,

Do you have the date that they moved to their new factory? Also I am curious as to what your research involved? If you care to share.

Thanks for the pictures,

Re: Was the MGM "Leo" the Lion shot with a Mitchell?

Hello. The camera in this photo is a Bell & Howell model 2709, sorry, no Mitchell here. I recall hearing somewhere that they used about 5 different lions over time, so it is safe to safe that a later lion was shot with a Mitchell, just not this one! The key and easy to see distinction is on top of t...
