I have decided that my SSR16 (featured as the last camera in my Member's Article videos: " Blimped cameras that made the movies".)

After reviewing my camera collection, this camera simply does not fit and is being offered for sale.

The package includes a functioning same era transistorized Auricon external record/playback unit biased for the RCA heads in the camera with 110VAC power supply/charger, the original Angeneuix 12-120 zoom lens, a near-extinct out-of-date 100' roll of Kodak Mag stripe news film that was used by this camera and a custom made power cable with a hard to find sound connector cable specific to the Auricon electronics.

As you can see from the video, this is in excellent, running condition and quite rare (I know of only two other samples of this camera currently.)

If interested, you can contact me in a private message on this site as "mediaed" or via e-mail to mediaed@att.net.

I own an SSR-16. No sound stuff, though. The inside diagrams how to thread it both with and without sound. Don't have a battery pack for mine, so I've never seen it running, though I did send it down to Kinemann (sp) in Miami, a while back to be checked out and lubed. He said it was working fine. I hoping sometime to find an AC motor for it so I can plug it into an outlet, and see it run, and maybe run some film through it. Curious, did you ever sell your SSR? Notice this is an ad for 2014. Thanks.

Hi SSR MOS,

Well, yours makes 3 other of these out there that I now know of.

Camera did not sell. Had it briefly on E-Bay and put it back in the lobby display,

I have a variable high amp DC power supply on the bench and as I remember, the camera wanted slightly more than 12VDC to get to 24FPS probably due to it's age. When these were made for double system sound, they were designated as DSR 16 models which yours may be. Curious as to if yours has double perf pulldowns as I opined in the print info with the video.

I take it you did see the video in the "Member's Articles" section. Anything you can add? I am going to record the narration for these videos soon and have a lot more info than what is now on the site in print thanks to people sending updates.

Best,

ED.

Mine is a single perf. I have a Angeneau 10-100 zoom for it. Camera takes arri b-mount lenses. Wondering if it were possible to change the motor from DC to AC? It takes single perf film, BTW.

Mitt Out Sound,

Thought I had a Mitchell motor that could be swapped out with the 24V. After some digging, found will not fit the housing without a lot of machining to convert. Not many of these cameras made. Probably few 110AC motors sold since intended for field use. Not to say somewhere one could turn up.
Steve Krams (kinemamann) might be a good bet.

Better bet would be to get hi amp 110AC to 12V DC power supply. ED.
